Btw, what is the template made of? Just a painted PCB? For some reason, I had it in my head it was metal at the base

The neck CPU, is a PCB, coated with I am guessing an epoxy black layer. The contacts are gold plated, with a depression, more like a rivet.
Electronic test equipment repair is what I do, and it seems very high quality in my opinion.
The tuner is quite heavy, chromed brass or steel I think. There is I think a nylon or similar gear in the motor housing. I think it is there to give a smooth operation. Turning the tuner by hand the resistance is smooth, but a little higher resistance than a high quality mechanical tuner due to the gear set of the small motor.
The template is what ever your printer paper is ; )

The tuner knobs are not metal?

Mike, that last post of mine was directed towards Hesh.

From what I have read, the same people are behind the Gibson Min-eTune and the Tronical. The current Tronical systems include metal tuning knobs (as well as plastic). I would assume brass plated with whatever finishes they offer. I am unsure what to do. Mostly because the Tronical folks are very slow on emails. And then, not very helpful answers. Next, only one lone voice (much appreciated Mike!) is talking positively about them. The Type R template would be very close, but if it did not work out, I'd have their holes. No way to know from here if that would screw me up. I think the only way to resolve this is on a test neck. Not sure I want to do this.

Mike

So I bought the upgrade to the set I have, on an electric, and bought another set for an acoustic. The firmware seems easier to use. The set was also packaged much better as well as looking more special, and the shipping went better.
It seems to tune quicker, some experiments will tell. Now to figure out all the new modes.
Mike has your customer/you decided what to do?

We have decided against it. It almost would have worked except the diamond volute on the back would get in the way. Next time I will design it in.

Tronical is not interested in the custom market. If they were, they would figure out how to accommodate the market. But their design limits what they can do.
